---- Chapter 83 Just as Tara was about to leave, Lance's hands wrapped around her. Caught completely off guard, she was pulled into a kiss, his lips sealing hers from behind. The clarity she had just regained began to fade. Her mind slipped back into a fog, and she was unable to think straight. Aseries of knocks sounded again. Soren was back. "Lance, are you really not going to listen? I can't wait to let you hear it ."" Soren's voice was loud, cutting straight through the door.

Lance paused mid-kiss, his handsome face flashing with irritation as Soren kept yelling from outside. He released her from his arms, gently tucking the dazed Tara back under the covers and kissed the corner of her lips. 7 Tara bit her lips, already flushed from the intensity of the kiss, and scrambled to put her clothes back on in a hurry. She moved to the bedroom door, ready to slip out the ---- second Soren left. She couldn't handle this anymore. Soren stood at the door, peering inside.

Seeing no movement, he finally left with a dark look on his face. The click of the closing door reached Tara's ears, prompting her to emerge swiftly from the bedroom. Lance noted the blush spreading across her cheeks and the way her eyes darted away from his as she lifted the tray he'd tossed onto the couch, a clear attempt to put some distance between them. The fact that she had run out of the bedroom didn't seem to surprise him. He strode toward her.

"Why did you come out?" Hearing the sultry edge in his voice, Tara's ears burned. " Mr. Swain, I... I'm heading back to my room to rest." His approach sent a jolt of panic through her; she scrambled around the dining table. Without a backward glance, she bolted for the door, wrenched it open, and fled. Tara didn't stop until she reached the elevator , heading down to the first floor. She returned the tray to the kitchen and then went straight back to her room.

Once inside, she shut the door and lifted a hand to cover her lips, not daring to think about what had just happened. ---- Lance actually... She bit down on her lip, her gaze still flickering with emotion. It took her a long while to calm down from that heat. Still shaken, Tara took her pajamas and went into the bathroom. As she undressed, she held her bra in her hand and noticed the back clasp had been torn loose. It was hanging precariously by a single thread.

Just remembering what had happened made her face flush. As if it burned her hand, she immediately tossed the damaged bra into the trash. She adjusted the water temperature , and when the heat hit her swollen lips-kissed raw by Lance-it left a tingling sensation. That night, Tara lay in bed, her thoughts constantly drifting back to Lance. Every time he crossed her mind, she found herself biting her lips again. Weariness eventually pulled her under, late in the night.

She slept deeply, a sleep born of utter exhaustion. The familiar, recurring dreams that had tormented her recently did not return. Her sleep was blessedly free of them. ---- As the sky began to brighten, Tara got up and brushed her teeth, thinking hard about how best to avoid Lance today. She only had two more days left in this foreign country before flying back home. Once she was back at the villa, she wouldn't be in charge of Lance's meals anymore.

She wouldn't have to go into his room, either. Feeling on edge, she pushed the meal cart to the kitchen to pick up breakfast, then grabbed a cup of coffee. It was for Jonah, the workaholic. Back on the second floor, she changed up the order of delivery. First, Jonah. Then Shawn. Soren next. And finally ... Lance. The more dangerous it was, the later it came. Tara wheeled the cart into Soren's room. He was in the living room with a game controller in hand, looking visibly annoyed as he played.

Seeing her walk in, he scanned her from head to toe, a dark cloud in his eyes like someone had painted shadows across his face. "Last night..." Just those two words made Tara's hand tremble slightly. Luckily, she steadied herself in time and placed the breakfast smoothly on the table. Soren paused his game and said, "What time did your ---- shift end?" Tara kept her expression calm and replied , "8:30 pm. She didn't add a single unnecessary word.

Soren still seemed interested in her, and if he ever found out what Lance did to her last night... Who knew what he would do? With that unpredictable temper of his, it was impossible to guess. If Soren and Lance really got into it, she couldn't even begin to imagine the fallout. It might be four months before she could leave this story, and that was assuming everything went smoothly. Soren sat in silence, staring at her.

Tara assumed he was trying to read her face for any signs of guilt, so she made sure to keep it completely blank. She didn't even twitch. Seeing that he didn't reply, she said, "Mr. Farrell , enjoy your breakfast," and pushed the meal cart out of his room. Aminute after the door closed, Soren suddenly hurled the game controller at the couch. "Fuck!" Even in his fury, he was afraid of scaring Tara, who had just left. The controller landed on the couch, making barely a sound.

---- He sat with his legs spread, elbows on his knees, and an expression so dark no one would dare come close. Sure, Lance had made the first move. But to avoid scaring Tara off-or overwhelming her-he had held back. Still, it wouldn't be long before he took her back from Lance's hands.
