---- Chapter 118 Tara followed her new colleagues to a dinner gathering. They arrived at a private room in a restaurant , and she sat in the most inconspicuous seat. Mark stood up and raised his glass. "Today, we're celebrating Tara joining us. Let's work hard together in the days ahead." A female colleague beside Tara quietly told her, "You drink wine. This one tastes good and won't get you drunk easily. They're drinking vodka.
Just ignore them if they try to make you drink vodka." Tara nodded. She then poured herself a glass of wine and toasted with everyone. Considering that she was a woman, Mark said, ''The men will toast. The ladies can do as they please." Tara took a sip of wine -it really did taste good. In her previous life, she could handle about three drinks. But she rarely drank-maybe once in several years. The male colleagues and Mark got loud and rowdy as the dinner went on.
Meanwhile, the female colleagues chatted while eating and drinking. They would occasionally advise the men not to drink too much. ---- Tara ate while occasionally sipping the wine because it tasted pretty good. What she didn't expect was that the original host had such a poor tolerance that even a little alcohol would knock her out. Once the wine took effect, she collapsed onto the table, completely drunk. Both the female colleague beside her and Mark, who was mid-drink, were stunned.
Everyone at the table stared at her in shock. Mark asked the female colleague next to Tara, "Did you give her vodka?" The female colleague shook her head. "No, I recommended the wine to her." She looked bewildered as she picked up the half-finished wine bottle. The label showed an alcohol content of 9%. Mark scratched his head while muttering in surprise , " T've never seen someone with such ridiculously low alcohol tolerance." Tara had only what, not even two small glasses?
The female colleague , confused , downed two glasses of the same wine. But she didn't feel the slightest bit tipsy. She also found it hard to believe someone could have such alow alcohol tolerance. "Does anyone know where Tara lives?" ---- Everyone shook their heads. "She's probably filled it out on her résumé , but I don't know exactly which building she lives in." Just as they were trying to figure out how to get her home, the private room door opened.
Everyone turned toward it, and a refined, elegant figure appeared. Once they saw who it was, everyone immediately stood up and respectfully greeted , "Good evening, Mr. Wilhelm." Mark hadn't expected Shawn to show up at their gathering . He quickly plastered on a smile and stepped forward. "Mr. Wilhelm , we've reserved a seat for you. Would you like to have a drink?" The others thought that Mark really knew how to handle things.

If it were them, their first reaction would have been to ask Shawn, "Why are you here? What are you doing here?" Shawn's mild gaze fell on the drunk Tara, who was slumped over the table. His brows drew together in displeasure. "No, thanks. What happened to her?" Though his tone didn't change, everyone could hear the ---- reproach in it. Seeing that Shawn had noticed Tara, the new employee , Mark quickly explained, "This is our new hire-her name's Tara Thayer.
Tonight's gathering was to celebrate her joining the team. We didn't expect her to have such a low alcohol tolerance . She just had two small glasses of wine, and she was out." Just as Shawn was about to speak, Tara suddenly sat up holding her forehead. Her eyes were still slightly glazed with intoxication . She noticed everyone staring at her, then turned her gaze toward the door. The moment she saw Shawn, she froze. For a second, she thought she was hallucinating from drinking too much.
She raised a hand and lightly smacked her own head. But after a closer look, he was still there. "Mr. Wilhelm?" Mark was shocked. "Tara, you know Mr. Wilhelm?" Right after asking , he remembered that Shawn also had another identity as a singer. So, of course she would know him. Tara realized this wasn't a drunken hallucination and wasn't sure if she should nod or not. Shawn's expression turned unusually cold as he strode over to her.
He then wrapped an arm around her waist ---- and carried her out of the room. The door automatically closed. Everyone inside looked at each other, stunned and confused. Tara was just as dazed. Only after they left the room did she snap out of it-why was he carrying her? "Mr. Wilhelm?" she blurted out. Ignoring her outburst , Shawn simply carried her to the car and placed her in the passenger seat. Tara watched as he carefully adjusted the seat for her.
He must have been worried about her earlier. When he leaned in to fasten her seatbelt , his face came very close. As he finished and shifted back, her lips lightly brushed against his cheek. It was just a brief touch, but Tara immediately covered her mouth, too embarrassed to know what to do. Her scent lingered around Shawn's nose, and that brief touch had only intensified his unhealthy possessiveness toward her. As the car drove on, Tara gradually sobered up.
While driving, Shawn said, "Don't drink again." Tara nodded right away. "I didn't know I had such low tolerance. I won't touch a drop from now on." ---- She then glanced at him and gave her address. "Sorry to trouble you, Mr. Wilhelm." Shawn didn't respond. His handsome face was shadowed with gloom. Seeing he didn't reply, Tara assumed he knew Lance's address. After all, they were friends and lived in a wealthy neighborhood. He probably had a house there too.
But for some reason, his expression was no longer as gentle as before. In fact, it had turned darker. They entered a luxurious estate, and Shawn parked in front of a villa. Tara looked at the unfamiliar, stylish surroundings and was about to ask him something, only to see him exit the car. He walked swiftly to the passenger side and opened her door. Then, he unfastened her seatbelt and lifted her into his arms again.
