---- Chapter 152 The CEO's private elevator doors slid shut just as the one Tara had been waiting for opened. Within moments, every elevator was packed, and the once-crowded lobby cleared out. Tara didn't think much of the look Jonah had given her earlier. He was probably just surprised to see her at headquarters. The thought that she might earn a promotion after two months pushed her to stay sharp and focused. She had worked hard for this opportunity and wasn't about to waste it.

She worked diligently for another two days, and during that time, she didn't run into Jonah again. Tara had planned to go shopping with Alice over the weekend, since it was their day off. However , Alice had stayed up late on her phone until around five in the morning and was now still sound asleep in her room. Left without a choice, Tara went out by herself to the supermarket to pick up some fruits and snacks.
As she pushed her shopping cart down the aisles, she ---- grabbed two of everything in the snack section-one for herself and one for Alice. When she turned into the next aisle, she suddenly came face-to-face with someone she never expected to see. Stella was walking beside a man, laughing and chatting with him. But the moment she saw Tara, the smile on her delicate face disappeared. It was replaced by a wary look. It was as if she didn't want the man with her to notice Tara.

Tara glanced at the man beside Stella. He was tall and good-looking, but his complexion was unnaturally pale, and the hollows beneath his eyes were tinged with a bluish hue. Stella tightened her grip on his arm and quickly led him away in the opposite direction. The man, Lucas Larsen, was clearly annoyed. "Where are you going now?" he asked. 1 "Lucas , I don't feel like getting those snacks anymore . Let's just pick up some fruits and head home," Stella said.

As the two of them disappeared from view, Tara was still a little taken aback. Stella was actually dating someone who wasn't the male lead of the story. She was curious, but it did not have anything to do with her anymore. As far as she was concerned, she was ---- completely out of the story's plot now. She then wandered through the supermarket . It wasn't until she got to the checkout that she realized she had bought too much.

Every time she shopped, everything looked affordable , but the total bill always shocked her. It hurt her wallet, but she told herself that everything she bought was either useful or something she really wanted. Carrying an overfilled shopping bag, Tara walked to the roadside and pulled out her phone to call a ride. A luxury car pulled up in front of her. She thought someone was getting out, so she prepared to lift her shopping bag and stepped aside to make room.

The car window rolled down, revealing Jonah in casual clothes. His usual stern expression was not in place. In fact, his features seemed relaxed today. He looked at her and said in a low voice, "Get in. I'll give you a ride." Tara waved her hand to politely refuse. 'No need. I can get aride myself. Don't trouble yourself , Mr. Pearson." He spoke calmly, "It's hard to get a ride here." Tara looked down at her phone.
She had already opened the app to order a ride, and it showed 43 people ahead of ---- her in line. Feeling embarrassed , Tara quickly changed her mind." Then, I'd really appreciate it, Mr. Pearson." She opened the back door, got inside, and closed it behind her. Just then, a thought suddenly crossed her mind. " Your boss is driving, and you're sitting in the back seat?" The car had already started moving, so Tara leaned a little closer to the driver's seat and said apologetically, "Sorry, Mr.

Pearson . I'm just used to sitting in the back when I take a ride." She hoped he wouldn't misunderstand her intentions, as she didn't mean to be disrespectful. "No need to be formal. Sit wherever you like," he replied. Tara quietly breathed a sigh of relief. It was good to know he didn't mind. Then she heard him ask, "Are you getting used to the food at headquarters?" She nodded instinctively. "It's great. The meals are great, and the chefs are really skilled." The car fell quiet for a moment.

Tara realized Jonah had been the one keeping the conversation going and figured she should say something too. "Are you heading home, Mr. Pearson?" she asked.
