Chapter 20
As Tara passed by the group of heiresses once more, Isabella called out to her, "Come here for a moment." Tara approached and asked, "Ladies, would you like something to drink?" Isabella, a keen judge of character, noticed the housekeeper's striking demeanor, which the uniform could not conceal. Yet, it was the clarity in Tara's dark, luminous eyes that captivated her most. There was an unmistakable sincerity in Tara's gaze that took Isabella by surprise.
"Where are Jonah and the others?" Isabella inquired. Hearing someone else searching for Jonah, Tara smoothly pointed the way, as if she had done it countless times before. "Mr. Pearson is in the next room." When Isabella asked about Soren, Tara replied, "Mr. Farnell is at the pool; I just took someone there earlier." When Viola inquired about Lance, Tara informed them that he was also in the adjacent room.

Isabella then asked about Shawn, and just as Tara was about to respond, she spotted Shawn approaching. She gestured toward him, and the group of heiresses followed her gaze. Shawn, noticing their attention, walked over to them. One of the heiresses, smitten with him, could barely contain her excitement.
Shawn asked Tara, "What's going on?" Tara smiled at the group and replied, "These ladies were looking for you." Isabella observed Tara intently, noting that she seemed entirely disinterested in Jonah and the others. Sensing the situation, Shawn dismissed Tara and cautioned the heiresses not to cause any trouble. Isabella attempted to defend the group's actions, but Viola remained silent, admiring Tara's character.
Isabella then voiced her doubts about Tara's motives, while Natalie, who harbored feelings for Shawn, felt displeased by his defense of Tara. Viola suggested that Natalie let go of her affections for Shawn and seek someone else, as he might not be interested in a relationship. This revelation shattered Natalie's hopes, prompting Viola to comfort her. Isabella, relieved to discover that Tara did not hail from a wealthy family, admired her beauty and purity of character.
She found Tara's gaze refreshing and uplifting, entirely devoid of desire or ulterior motives. In another room, influential heirs were intrigued by Tara’s presence, with some subtly observing her. Jonah and the others discussed Tara, with Clyde Orville expressing interest in her. They speculated about Jonah's indifference toward women and pondered who might eventually capture his heart.
