Chapter 26 As Tara bent down to pick up the last two vases and carry them into the villa, a figure approached from the side. In the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a pair of long legs and noticed the expensive, custom-made leather shoes that belonged to the person. Before Tara could react, the individual had already lifted the vase in front of her. Tara straightened up and gazed at Lance's back in surprise. Was he helping her? Where had Stella gone off to?
She looked around but Stella was nowhere to be seen. Assuming that Lance was just offering a casual hand and not expecting him to return, Tara went to the other side and reached for the final vase. As her fingers brushed against it, the light in front of her seemed to dim. The man covered her hand with his own, emitting a faint woody scent. Tara hesitated for a moment. The heat from his touch felt intense, causing her ears to turn red. She quickly withdrew her hand, not even bothering with...

He stood very close, his tall figure seeming to engulf her. Lance's strong, masculine presence made her heart race. A sense of dominance overwhelmed her, making it difficult to breathe. "Miss Swain?" Tara backed away in a panic, putting some distance between them. Lance, however, did not seem to notice. His flawlessly handsome features were partially obscured by the night. "Finish early and get some rest," he said. His voice was so soothing, it was almost intoxicating.

Tara nodded and replied, "Let me do it." Being paid while the boss helped out didn't sit well with her. She reached for the vase in his hands, but Lance walked silently towards the villa, ignoring her words. Tara had no choice but to follow him inside, though she didn't dare walk too fast. She couldn't understand why Lance would help her. Whether in the novel or in the original host's memories, Lance wasn't the type to do this, which puzzled Tara.
After setting down the vase, Lance glanced at his hand, noticing some dirt on it. He furrowed his brow slightly. Tara stood behind him, unsure whether to leave or stay. "Mr. Swain, thank you for your help," she said after some hesitation. Lance turned around, observing her slightly uneasy expression. "You're welcome. Bring a hot glass of milk to my room at 7:00 am tomorrow." Instead of feeling nervous, Tara actually felt relieved upon hearing that.

It made sense why he helped - he had an agenda. "Certainly, Mr. Swain," she agreed, feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders. Just then, a lazy voice came from behind Tara. Soren, with his effortlessly perfect physique dressed casually, hands in his pockets and headphones draped around his neck, appeared. He seemed relaxed and irresistibly charming. "Swain," Soren interjected, "You might need a different housekeeper for that. I just finished swimming, so you might want someone else to handle it." He attempted to insert himself between Tara and Lance, but she evaded him skillfully and exited just in time.
