---- Chapter 122 Tara glanced at Shawn, then reached out and took the check from the coffee table. Shawn seemed to have expected that she wouldn't refuse. That was good. It saved them both from future entanglements. Suppressing her nervousness, Tara said, "Can I leave now?" Shawn was pouring coffee and didn't look at her. "Feel free to leave anytime." She secretly took a deep breath in a bid to calm her racing heart.

"Oh, right, my bag is still in your car." "The car key is in the foyer cabinet by the door," Shawn replied. Tara immediately got up, but her weak legs gave out and she fell back onto the couch. Across from her, Shawn paused mid-pour and slowly looked up at her. She was mortified. Using the armrest for support, she finally managed to stand. It was all Shawn's fault for ---- being such a pervert. Tara did her best to ignore his gaze as she walked toward the door.

She saw the car key on the cabinet and picked it up. Luckily , his car was parked just outside the villa. There was no need for her to walk far-even taking an extra step exhausted her. After pressing the unlock button, she opened the passenger door and grabbed her bag from the seat. She then closed the door and turned around, only to see Shawn standing right in front of her. She immediately jumped in fright. "Mr. Wilhelm?" Shawn looked down at her expressionlessly .
"You said I was drunk, but why is there no smell of alcohol on me?" He had a driver, so he wasn't going to ask who drove the car. Tara swallowed nervously at his question. Of course there was no smell. He hadn't drunk anything at all! "Maybe it's because you had a shower ," Tara answered. Shawn said nothing. His refined, handsome face stayed blank as he stared at her silently. Tara couldn't help but blush and became flustered under his gaze. ---- "Go now.

I'll look into what really happened," Shawn said. Tara didn't care anymore. She just needed to get out of there first. She nodded at him with her head lowered. As she stepped past him to leave, she stumbled again from. nerves and sore legs. Shawn grabbed her arm to steady her. The touch of his palm was unbelievably soft. He let go quickly, and Tara hurried past him. Her long, dark hair brushed against his left hand, which he hadn't had time to lower.

The scent she gave off made him feel an inexplicable, feverish agitation-almost sick in its intensity. He watched her slender figure disappear, his eyes darkening behind the glasses. He hated the blank spots in his memory. Tara forced her legs to carry her out of the manor. Even as she walked, she kept looking back to see if Shawn was following her. She took out her phone to hail a ride while keeping an eye on the entrance.

Once the car arrived, she got in right away and told the driver her destination . Only after leaving the vicinity of the manor did she finally feel safe. So, Shawn really didn't remember anything that happened after she transmigrated ? Was it because the plot had been disrupted? ---- Tara thought that made sense. There was no way the story would allow the male lead to fall for the villainess , so of course it would try to correct the trajectory. Something occurred to her.

She pulled out her phone and checked the trending searches about Lance. But no matter how she searched, there were no reports of Lance being in a relationship. It was as if it had never happened at all. Tara stared at her phone dazedly for a moment. She didn't know if her fingerprint was still saved-if she could still unlock the door to her apartment. The car pulled into the underground garage. After paying, she got out carefully, because she didn't want to embarrass herself again.

As she walked toward the elevator , she didn't notice the familiar Cullinan parked not far away. Tara entered the elevator, wanting to see if her fingerprint still worked. Just moments earlier, an elegant, tall, handsome man stepped out of the Cullinan. He saw her slender figure disappearing into the elevator and never re-emerging . Lance had long bought this entire building , so he asked Leslie in a low voice, "Have you seen that woman before?" Leslie shook his head. "No.

Maybe she went to the wrong building." ---- Lance frowned and rubbed the top of his nose bridge. Last night, he had been at his family's estate celebrating Anton's birthday. Yet somehow, he had parked his car near Shawn's manor that morning. He had no idea why he had rushed over there. It felt like he had completely forgotten something important. On the 28th floor of that high-rise, Tara placed her finger on the biometric scanner.
It beeped and said, "Welcome home." Tara completely relaxed when the door opened. All her belongings were still inside the apartment. Back inside, the air still carried the scent of Lance's signature oud. But she knew he wouldn't come back here anymore. Everything had happened so suddenly that she hadn't had time to adjust. Lance liked quiet, so she wouldn't sell this apartment.

With the 20 million dollars from Shawn and the money Lance had transferred to her before, she could now afford not to work at all. Tara sat on the couch for a while, then made up her mind to move out. The company she had applied to last time was under Shawn's name, so she couldn't keep working there. Even though the culture and the company were pretty good, it was best for her to stay far, far, away from ---- these male leads. She was genuinely scared now. She hadn't yet decided where to go.

She didn't plan to return to her hometown; she wanted to keep her distance from the original host's parents. It would be enough to send them money regularly. After all, that was all they ever wanted anyway. Tara debated between opening a small shop and finding a new job. She wasn't planning to just lie around and do nothing. About ten minutes earlier , in the underground parking garage, Lance had stepped into the elevator. Without thinking, he pressed the button for the 28th floor.

Suddenly, he paused and frowned before moving his finger up to press the button for the 29th floor instead. He stared at the number 28 coldly and with his lips pressed into a thin line.
