Chapter 33 Lance savored his wine as he shifted his gaze from the lively scene downstairs to Soren, silently urging him to continue. Soren recited Tara's words verbatim and, upon finishing, sported an amused smile, clearly intrigued by Tara. Lance remained silent for a moment before speaking, "Given her perceptiveness, it's no wonder she turned down Jasper." "Not too long ago, we witnessed her behavior towards us. Then, there was that incident with Jonah.

She transitioned remarkably fast," Soren added. Lance intended to find the right moment to inquire why Tara, despite her appearance, family background, and social status matching or even surpassing theirs, had rejected Jasper so definitively after previously showing interest in them. Lost in thought, Lance lowered his eyes, pondering silently. Meanwhile, in the living room downstairs, Tara accepted an umbrella from Shawn and placed it in the stand.

Her work attire was drenched from the rain, the soft fabric clinging to her back, accentuating her alluring silhouette in a way that captivated onlookers. Shawn's gaze lingered on her briefly before he removed his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders. The sudden warmth left Tara momentarily stunned. Instinctively, she glanced at the jacket enveloping her. "Mr. Wilhelm?" she turned to him, perplexed. "You should change into a dry uniform," Shawn suggested gently.

Tara suddenly became aware of her soaked back and the inappropriate fit of her attire. Nervously, she nodded, too embarrassed to meet his eyes. "Thank you, Mr. Wilhelm. Once the jacket is cleaned, I'll return it to you." Shawn smiled as the faint blush on his ears dissipated. Tara hurriedly retreated to her room, checking her appearance in the mirror.

Feeling self-conscious in her current state, she switched into a fresh uniform, leaving Shawn's jacket in the dry-cleaning area with his name labeled on the hanger. Engrossed in preparing a fruit platter at the bar, Tara readied the tray to be delivered to the band upstairs. Stella placed the platter on a cart without consulting Tara for the delivery, pushing it away from the bar. Tara remained composed, concealing her emotions from Stella.

She preferred having fewer responsibilities, particularly tasks involving close interaction with the band members. As Tara's shift drew to a close, she headed to clock out. While stretching her neck, she overheard Hetty sobbing, prompting her to rush towards the commotion. Finding Hetty in tears before Terence, Tara halted at a distance, unable to decipher Hetty's muffled words. "It's not fair, Mr. Daldry. I can't..." Hetty's voice wavered through her tears.

Tara stood anxiously, struggling to comprehend the situation. Why was Hetty in such distress? Terence sighed, "I'll assign someone else to this. Just be more cautious in the future. Don't blame yourself." Hetty nodded amidst sobs. As Terence left, the heartbroken Hetty caught sight of Tara and broke into uncontrollable tears.
