---- Chapter 120 With the break of dawn came the end of the night's stillness and gloom. Shawn woke up in a manor at the center of Sorrentia. The beautiful woman he was holding in his arms, as if she were a precious treasure, felt utterly unfamiliar. He frowned, his usually gentle expression turning cold and grim. The memories of last night were gone -not a single trace was left behind. He lifted a hand to brush her hair aside. When he saw her stunning face, his gaze grew even colder.

The woman in his arms was a live-in housekeeper recently hired for the villa. Although she hadn't been there long, she had already started acting inappropriately, speaking and behaving in a way that hinted at seduction. Shawn's expression darkened. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't recall a thing from last night. It was as if his memories had been wiped clean. After putting on his gold-rimmed glasses , he got out of bed and slipped on a bathrobe.
He then walked slowly to the walk-in closet. Just as he approached the wardrobe, he suddenly stopped and looked toward the opposite wall, ---- where a door had appeared without him even noticing. Shawn walked up to the door and turned the handle. It opened to reveal another walk-in closet. But when was this closet added? He had no memory of it at all. He randomly opened one of the wardrobes inside, and it was filled with women's clothing.

In the center stood a large jewelry cabinet, packed with various women's accessories . The clothes and jewelry were all brand new and untouched. Shawn silently pushed up his glasses as a flicker of confusion passed through his eyes. Ten minutes later, he walked out of the closet. While he was buttoning his shirt, his gaze landed on the sleeping woman on his bed. Tara was jolted awake by a sharp, piercing beep in her mind.

"Memory deletion failed." Her whole body ached as she opened her eyes to an unfamiliar ceiling. What did it mean-memory deletion failed? She slowly looked to the left, then to the right. What was that sound just now? Before she could make sense of anything, memories from last night came flooding back -Shawn had completely exposed the true self he had long kept hidden. ---- Tara had been pushed to her limit by him. Holding her sore waist, she sat up slowly.

She recalled that Shawn had even called Lance last night to tell him she was breaking up with him on her behalf. The whole thing was completely one-sided. After what had happened, there was probably no salvaging her relationship with Lance. Right now, her main feeling toward Shawn was fear. He had hidden his true nature too well and was far scarier than the "refined scoundrel" trope described in the novel. But what was that voice she had just heard in her head?

It had said "memory deletion failed". She was sure the voice had come from inside her own mind and not from the outside world. With trembling limbs, she picked up her clothes from the floor, only to find they had all been torn apart. Her skirt was shredded, and the buttons on her blouse were nowhere to be found. Tara looked around the bedroom. There was no wardrobe in sight, but a door nearby likely led to the walk-in closet.
She spotted his bathrobe hanging on the coat rack and had no choice but to put it on, since her own clothes were in no condition to be worn. Just as she was tying the bathrobe sash, the bedroom door opened. Startled, her eyes widened as she saw the tall ---- figure standing at the doorway. Shawn swept his gaze over her and noticed she was wearing his bathrobe. The oversized robe made her look even more delicate. Her beautiful face, framed by her long, dark hair, was filled with panic.

Her clear, innocent eyes were wide and round, making her look even more like a startled rabbit. His throat felt inexplicably dry. He reached up to adjust his glasses in a bid to distract himself. "The walk-in closet at the back has some women's clothes. You can see if any of them fit you," he said gently. Just moments ago, Tara had been nervously wondering if he might come in and try something again. It wasn't until she heard the bedroom door open and then close that she finally relaxed.

It hit Tara a beat too late that Shawn seemed different from last night. The way he looked at her now was noticeably colder. But she didn't have time to dwell on it. She had been truly frightened by them and wanted nothing more to do with any of the male leads. She thought she could have a normal relationship with Lance for a while, but Shawn had forcefully stepped in. The thought of the trouble to come made her shudder. She ---- had to leave as soon as possible. She would rather be a coward than get dragged into their relationship chaos.
