Chapter 7
Grace was seething with anger, her chest tight with fury. She intended to swiftly gather her important documents, but as she opened the final drawer, she was taken aback. Inside lay a stack of certificates, including the prestigious Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst certificates, highly esteemed in the finance industry. These certificates were often deemed as tickets to success, yet they were carelessly stashed in the neglected corner of the drawer.
Wasn't she supposed to be a worthless woman, solely fixated on chasing after a man? Glancing at them briefly, she made up her mind to pack a few sets of clothes and depart from the house promptly. Just then, Liam entered the room. "Grace, are you running away from home again? Stop this nonsense. I'm famished." Approaching her, he forcefully took the suitcase from her grasp.
"If you don't apologize to Mom and Alice immediately, nobody will pay any attention to you. How long do you plan to stay away this time? Didn't you pull the same stunt just yesterday?
"You were gone for merely a few hours before returning. You are making a fool of yourself, do you realize that? You are disrupting the peace of this household."
As he spoke, he flung her suitcase aside in anger, scattering her neatly folded clothes on the floor.
"Do you know why everyone prefers Alice? She's gentle, well-educated, and excels at work. She is light-years ahead of you. Considering how Mom and Dad won't allot you any shares, shouldn't you reflect on your behavior and attitude?"
Observing her clothes strewn on the floor, Grace's patience wore thin. She raised her hand and slapped him across the face.
Liam clutched his cheek in astonishment, a red mark swiftly forming. "You hit me?"
Grace had always endured everything silently, always indulging him. And now, she had struck him? His heart twinged momentarily, but soon, anger replaced his shock.
"You hit me? You really hit me? Grace, I swear I'm through with you! Unless you cook for me for an entire year, don't even think about speaking to me again! Just leave already! We all know you'll be back in a few days anyway!"
He stormed off furiously.
As Grace descended the stairs with her suitcase, Carmen's sharp voice reached her ears.
"Unbelievable! Grace, you actually struck your own brother! You have completely lost control! Get outside and kneel until we are satisfied. Otherwise, you are not welcome in this house!"
Glancing at the couch, Alice was tenderly massaging Liam's swollen cheek, her eyes filled with concern.
Liam appeared deeply moved. When he turned to look at Grace, he even snorted coldly, exaggerating his reaction.
A sharp pain pierced Grace's heart. However, she had truly lost her memories. She no longer possessed the instinct to seek their affection.
Calmly pulling her suitcase towards the door, she spoke evenly, "Fine. I don't wish to remain here anyway. Since I am no longer welcomed, I will leave. The four of you can live happily together. I won't disturb you anymore. Farewell."
Carmen thought she had misheard. Trembling with rage, she uttered, "You-you…! How did I give birth to such an ungrateful child? Fine, go! You have never worked a day in your life. Let's see how long you survive out there. You will come back begging in no time!"
Grace's response was the resounding slam of the door.
Carmen's body trembled with fury. She sank onto the couch, her hands shaking as she reached for a glass of water. "I should never have given birth to her!"
Although Alice's eyes twinkled with amusement, her expression remained concerned. "Mom, don't worry. She always talks big. The harsher her words, the quicker she returns."

Liam readily agreed. "Yeah, and after what she did to me today, I will never forgive her."
…
Grace dragged her suitcase out of the house, armed only with the ten thousand dollars Joanne had sent her, her primary concern finding a place to stay.
While Joanne had offered her accommodation, she hesitated to impose.
Scouring online listings for nearby rentals, she aimed to secure a place in close proximity to Henderson Group.
However, the company resided in the heart of Druville, where every square foot of land commanded a premium. The most affordable apartment she found cost nearly 20 thousand dollars per month, far beyond her means.
Opting for a residence further away would incur exorbitant daily taxi fees.
After contemplating her options, she noticed a nearby electric scooter station offering free rides.
Left with no alternative, she resolved to lease a property in an older neighborhood. A scooter journey to Henderson Group would take approximately 20 minutes.
Unlocking a scooter stationed outside the complex, she embarked on a trial ride along the main road.
With no recollection of her past, she was unsure if she possessed the ability to ride one. Observing others, it appeared straightforward.
However, once she set off, the scooter wobbled erratically. It moved painfully slow, prompting passing vehicles to honk at her.
Perspiration beaded on her forehead as she clutched the handlebar, hugging the roadside to avert a mishap.
Meanwhile, in a luxurious car nearby, Ethan sat in the backseat, engrossed in a stack of documents on his lap.
As the car halted at a traffic light, he shut the folder and glanced outside-only to witness Grace struggling to control a scooter on the road.
Today, she had styled her hair in a ponytail. Bathed in sunlight, her complexion appeared almost translucent, exuding a vibrant, youthful radiance.
Yet, her riding skills were abysmal, nearly colliding with a turning car.
Ethan's gaze froze momentarily, his fingers curling slightly.
From the driver's seat, Tim Bennet interjected.
"Isn't that Grace? What is she up to now? Didn't she used to dismiss anything cheaper than three million dollars?"
Tim, Ethan's assistant who had recently returned to the country with him, met Ethan's gaze in the rearview mirror.
"Sir, let us steer clear of that walking catastrophe. The last thing we need is for her to entangle you in trouble once more."
